Suspension Maintenance Checklist for Nashville Drivers

August 3, 2026 6 min readBy T&H Tire And Auto Service

A simple suspension maintenance routine can protect your tires, improve handling, and help prevent expensive repairs after potholes and rough roads.

Start with tire pressure and tire condition

Tires are part of the suspension system’s contact with the road. Check pressure when the tires are cold and use the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended PSI, not the maximum number molded into the sidewall. Look for sidewall damage, uneven tread, and cupping that could point to a suspension or alignment issue.

Pay attention after pothole impacts

Nashville-area roads can deliver a sharp hit to wheels and suspension components. After a hard impact, watch for a steering wheel that is no longer centered, a vehicle that pulls, new vibration, or a repeated clunk. These changes can signal bent or loosened parts even when the tire appears intact.

Schedule regular inspections

An annual inspection gives a technician a chance to find cracked bushings, leaking shocks, loose ball joints, worn sway bar links, or damaged spring seats before they become a roadside problem. Add an inspection when you have tires rotated or when the vehicle is already on a lift.

Keep alignment and rotation on schedule

Correct alignment helps every tire roll at the intended angle and reduces stress on suspension parts. Tire rotation promotes even wear and makes unusual patterns easier to catch. If tires keep wearing on one edge after an alignment, the suspension should be checked for worn or bent components.

Do not wait for a major symptom

Suspension wear often develops gradually, so drivers adapt to a vehicle that is not handling as it should. If the ride feels different, steering takes more correction, or a new noise appears, stop by T&H Tire And Auto Service for an honest inspection before the problem spreads to tires and other components.
